What is Reiki?
Reiki, a gentle and non-intrusive hands-on healing technique, harnesses universal life force energy to address physical ailments without resorting to pressure, manipulation, or massage. Beyond its physical therapy aspect, Reiki constitutes a holistic system designed to balance, heal, and harmonize all facets of an individual – body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Although Reiki can foster personal and spiritual awareness, it stands apart from any specific religion or belief system. Dr. Mikao Usui, who researched and introduced this hands-on healing technique in Japan during the 1900s, played a crucial role in its development.
The term "Reiki" translates to Rei (Universal) and Ki (Life Force or Energy), signifying the utilization of Universal Life Force Energy.
How does Reiki work?
Recognizing the universe as an energetic entity and acknowledging that we, too, are composed of energy, Reiki functions to restore and balance our inherent energy. Operating at a higher vibration, Reiki is a specific frequency of energy that interacts with an individual's body energy. As it flows into the body, Reiki assists in removing blockages, clearing and balancing the chakras, and enhancing energy pathways. The energy channelled into the client's energy field promotes healing, with the body utilizing it to restore equilibrium, harmony, and overall well-being.
What does a Reiki session involve?
The treatment is given with the client lying down on a massage table. Clients remain fully clothed throughout the whole treatment. This is very gentle and non-invasive, hands are placed in a series of positions on the body or in the energy field as required. Each position is held for a few minutes. You may feel heat, tingling, twitching, or a wave of energy, the experience is different for everyone. Reiki is completely safe.
