There are some things you learn because you study them.
And then there are things you create because, somewhere along your own healing journey, two pieces suddenly come together and you think, this needs to exist.
That is what happened with Ho’oponopono Tapping™.
I had experienced the power of EFT Tapping. I understood what could happen when we stopped running from an emotion, named what we were actually feeling, and tapped through it.
I also had a deep connection with Ho’oponopono and its beautiful four phrases.
I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
One day, those two practices began to come together naturally in my work.
And the more I used them together, the more I loved what was happening.
Because I didn’t want a tapping practice that only said, this hurts, now let’s get rid of it.
I wanted something deeper.
I wanted acknowledgement.
Forgiveness.
Self-forgiveness.
Gratitude.
Love.
And, when we are manifesting something new, I wanted us to finish by connecting with the feeling of already receiving what we desire.
That is how Ho’oponopono Tapping™ was born.
Today, it has become one of the practices I love sharing most, both through my YouTube channel and in the healing spaces I hold for others.
And if you’ve ever watched one of my videos and wondered why I take you through the process in the particular way I do, I want to take you behind it.
What Is Ho’oponopono Tapping™?

Ho’oponopono Tapping™ is the healing method I created by bringing together Emotional Freedom Technique, usually known as EFT Tapping, with the four familiar Ho’oponopono phrases.
EFT involves gently tapping on a sequence of acupressure points while bringing awareness to thoughts, feelings, memories or beliefs.
Ho’oponopono brings another layer to that experience through words of acknowledgement, forgiveness, gratitude and love.
My own website now describes my work as bringing together trauma-informed Reiki, EFT Tapping, Ho’oponopono Tapping™ and nervous system support to help people work with emotional blocks and reconnect with themselves. (Mahesha Rice)
But to really understand Ho’oponopono Tapping™, I think you need to experience it rather than simply read a definition.
Because it is what happens as you move through the different stages that makes this practice so special to me.
We Begin With What Is Actually True
One of the things I have learnt through my own healing is that trying to force yourself into positivity when part of you is hurting rarely feels authentic.
If you’re frightened, you’re frightened.
If you’re angry, you’re angry.
If part of you believes you aren’t good enough, pretending that belief isn’t there doesn’t necessarily make it disappear.
So we begin there.
With honesty.
At the karate chop point, I use targeted setup statements based on what we are actually working on.
For someone struggling to put themselves first, for example, I might begin with something like:
“Even though I struggle to put myself first, I am sorry for the pressure I have been carrying.”
Then we might move into:
“Please forgive me for believing I have to earn love and acceptance.”
“Thank you for protecting me in the ways you knew how.”
“I deeply & completely love and accept myself.”
Do you see what is happening here?
We aren’t fighting the feeling.
We are meeting it.
There is an acknowledgement of what hurts, but there is also compassion for the part of us that learnt to think, feel or behave this way.
For me, that matters enormously.
Then We Move Into “I Am Sorry”
Once we begin tapping through the points, I like to give each of the four Ho’oponopono phrases its own space.
We begin with:
I am sorry.
This isn’t about blaming yourself.
It isn’t about deciding everything that happened to you was somehow your responsibility.
For me, “I am sorry” is an acknowledgement.
I am sorry for the fear I have been carrying.
I am sorry for the pressure I have placed upon myself.
I am sorry for the part of me that still believes I am not enough.
I am sorry for abandoning my own needs to keep everybody else happy.
There is something incredibly powerful about acknowledging what has been there without immediately trying to make it disappear.
Sometimes, this is where emotion rises.
And when it does, I don’t see that as something going wrong.
Quite the opposite.
This is where I encourage you to slow down.
Breathe.
Notice.
If tears come, let them come.
Where do you feel the emotion in your body?
Is it in your chest?
Your throat?
Your stomach?
What does it feel like?
You don’t need to rush through that moment just because the next tapping point is waiting.
Healing isn’t a race.
“Please Forgive Me”
Then we move into forgiveness.
This is another part of the practice that means a great deal to me personally.
Forgiveness was one of the hardest parts of my own healing journey.
For a long time, I misunderstood what forgiveness meant. I thought forgiving someone meant excusing what they had done to me.
It doesn’t.
It doesn’t mean saying what happened was acceptable.
It doesn’t mean forgetting.
For me, forgiveness became about releasing the emotional grip something still had over my life.
And self-forgiveness became just as important.
Please forgive me for believing I wasn’t worthy.
Please forgive me for the times I ignored what I needed.
Please forgive me for being so hard on myself.
Please forgive me for carrying something that was never mine to carry.
There can be so much softness in these words.
Sometimes we have spent years judging ourselves for the very behaviours that once helped us survive.
What happens when, instead of judging that version of yourself, you begin meeting them with compassion?
That is part of what I want this practice to create.
Then Something Changes. We Say “Thank You”
This is one of my favourite parts.
After acknowledging what we have carried and moving through forgiveness, we begin tapping with gratitude.
Thank you for bringing this to my awareness.
Thank you for everything my body has done to protect me.
Thank you for showing me what I am ready to release.
Thank you for how far I have already come.
The energy of the session begins to feel different here.
We aren’t denying what happened.
We are recognising that something is changing now.
And gratitude can also become a beautiful bridge between healing and manifestation.
And Then, “I Love You”
Finally, we come to love.
I love you.
Such simple words.
But how often do we actually say them to ourselves and mean them?
I love the part of me that survived.
I love the part of me that kept going.
I love who I am becoming.
I love myself enough to choose differently now.
I love myself exactly where I am today.
For someone who has spent years criticising themselves, rejecting parts of themselves or believing they have to become somebody different before they are worthy of love, this can feel incredibly emotional.
And that is okay.
Let yourself feel it.
Where Manifestation Comes Into Ho’oponopono Tapping™

This is another part of the way I work that I absolutely love.
Not every Ho’oponopono Tapping™ session is about manifestation. Sometimes we simply need to heal, release and be present with what is here.
But when we are working towards something, I often take the practice somewhere else towards the end.
We begin thanking as though what we desire has already happened.
If you were manifesting a new home, for example, rather than only saying:
“I want my new home.”
We might tap with:
“Thank you for my beautiful new home.”
“Thank you for how safe and peaceful I feel here.”
“Thank you for how beautifully everything came together.”
“Thank you for guiding me to exactly where I was meant to be.”
And then we feel it.
That part matters to me.
What would it feel like to wake up there?
What would you see?
What would change inside your body if you knew it had all worked out?
This isn’t about pretending reality is something it isn’t. It is about giving yourself permission to connect emotionally with the possibility you are moving towards, while also noticing and working with the fear, doubt or limiting beliefs that may arise along the way.
Healing and manifestation don’t have to be separate conversations.
Sometimes we need to gently release what tells us we cannot receive before we can truly open ourselves to something new.
Why I Don’t Want You to Just Repeat My Words
This is important.
When you follow one of my Ho’oponopono Tapping™ videos, I give you the words.
But they are an invitation.
If a phrase doesn’t quite fit, change it.
If another emotion suddenly comes up, acknowledge it.
If you need to pause the video and cry, pause it.
If English isn’t your first language and saying the words in your own language feels more natural, do that.
I would much rather you say something that feels true than perfectly repeat every sentence I give you.
Because this is your healing.
I am guiding you through it, but you are the person doing the inner work.
What Can You Use Ho’oponopono Tapping™ For?
This is one of the reasons I have created so many different sessions.
The structure can be adapted to whatever is present for you.
I use Ho’oponopono Tapping™ around anxiety and fear, self-worth, people pleasing, boundaries, emotional overwhelm, forgiveness, childhood wounds, limiting beliefs, feeling safe, abundance, confidence, letting go, manifestation and so much more.
Sometimes you know exactly what you want to work on.
Sometimes you simply know something doesn’t feel right.
Both are valid places to begin.
My free healing guide also introduces both EFT Tapping and Ho’oponopono separately, alongside breathwork, affirmations and meditation, so people who are completely new to these practices can begin gently and understand the foundations. The Messages That Mean More Than Numbers Ever Could
Some of the most meaningful moments for me happen after I publish a video.
It is when somebody leaves a comment and tells me what surfaced.
Or that they cried.
Or slept differently.
Or finally understood something they had been carrying.
Or felt lighter.
Or came back to the same tapping session again because something in it reached them.
I never take those comments for granted.
Behind every view is a human being.
Someone with a story.
Someone who may be sitting alone with something they haven’t told anybody else.
Someone choosing, perhaps for the first time that day, to give themselves ten or twenty minutes of care.
I will be sharing some of your comments below because they explain the experience of this work far better than I ever could.
When you leave me a comment after tapping with me, please know that I read them. Your experiences matter to me. And knowing these videos are supporting people in their healing, growth and personal development is one of the reasons I continue creating them.
Ho’oponopono Tapping™ Inside Reiki Renewal Rising®
Ho’oponopono Tapping™ isn’t something I only record for YouTube.
It also comes into the live healing spaces I hold.
Inside Reiki Renewal Rising®, my online healing membership, we meet every week for live healing and nervous system support. The membership was created to give people something I deeply wished I had during difficult periods of my own life, consistent support and somewhere safe to return to.
My current work inside Reiki Renewal Rising® brings together live Reiki healing, emotional and nervous system support, community and, depending on the session and what feels needed, the other healing tools I use in my practice. (Reiki Renewal Rising®)
Ho’oponopono Tapping™ can become part of that deeper healing space.
There is something different about tapping together live.
We can slow down.
We can breathe.
We can notice what is coming up.
We can give an emotion time instead of rushing past it.
And then Reiki can support the deeper healing and integration that follows.
That combination feels incredibly special to me.
This Is Why I Created Ho’oponopono Tapping™
I didn’t create Ho’oponopono Tapping™ because I thought the world needed another complicated healing technique.
Quite the opposite.
I created it because I know what it is like to hurt.
I know what it is like to carry old experiences into the present without realising how much they are still influencing you.
I know what it is like to forgive.
To struggle to forgive.
To learn to forgive yourself.
To rebuild your self-worth.
To learn how to receive love.
To learn how to feel safe.
And I know what it is like when something that has felt heavy for years finally begins to loosen its grip.
I wanted a practice that could hold all of that.
A practice that says, yes, let’s acknowledge what hurts.
Let’s tap on it.
Let’s feel it.
Let’s forgive where we are ready.
Let’s thank ourselves for getting this far.
Let’s bring love back into the places where there has been fear.
And then, when the time is right, let’s begin opening ourselves to what comes next.
That is Ho’oponopono Tapping™.
Where EFT Tapping meets the healing power of Ho’oponopono.
And if something inside you is telling you that you’re ready to experience it, come and tap with me.
You can begin completely free on my YouTube channel @MaheshaRice.
And if you reach a point where you want more consistent support and a live healing space to return to each week, you can explore Reiki Renewal Rising®.
You don’t have to heal everything today.
Begin with what is here.
One feeling.
One tapping point.
One breath.
One honest sentence.
I am sorry.
Please forgive me.
Thank you.
I love you.
And see what begins to shift.
With love and light,
Mahesha Rice
