If You’re New Here, This Is Me: My Story, My Healing, My Purpose

a portrait of Mahesha Rice

If you have found your way into my little corner of the world recently, welcome.

And if you have been here for a while, perhaps it is time I reintroduced myself.

I’m Mahesha Rice.

I’m a wife. A mother. An adoptee. A trauma survivor. A Reiki Master of Light. An EFT practitioner. An NLP practitioner. A healer, teacher, creator and business owner.

I am also someone who has had to rebuild herself more than once.

The woman you see today did not arrive here because life was easy.

She arrived here because, eventually, I decided that what happened to me would be part of my story, but it would not get to decide the rest of it.

And perhaps that is the most important thing I can tell you about me.

My Story Began in Sri Lanka

I was born in Sri Lanka in 1984.

In 1993, I was adopted and moved to France.

Adoption completely changed the direction of my life, but it also created wounds that took me many years to understand.

There was abandonment. Loss. Identity confusion. The feeling of being different. The question of where I belonged.

And my childhood after adoption brought further trauma.

I went through experiences within my adoptive family that no child should have to navigate. Later, there were experiences of abuse that I carried with shame and guilt for a very long time.

Some parts of my story were easier for me to speak about than others.

Growing up, I was actually quite open about many of my emotions. I was fortunate to have friends, parents of friends and some teachers I trusted. I could talk to them. I could be vulnerable with them.

Looking back, I genuinely believe those connections helped keep me going.

But there were other things I couldn’t talk about.

The abuse was different.

There was so much shame attached to it that opening that door took me years.

And when I eventually did, something changed.

I began to understand that vulnerability wasn’t making me weaker.

It was helping me become free.

In 2005, I Chose a New Chapter

In 2005, I moved to England to go to university, but I came here for so much more than an education.

I came searching for independence. For freedom. For the chance to step away from a life that, until then, had not served me and begin creating one that truly felt like mine.

I needed space to breathe. Space to discover who Mahesha really was, outside of everything I had lived through and everything that had been placed upon me.

Looking back now, moving to England wasn’t simply a change of country.

It was the beginning of choosing myself.

England became home in ways I could never have imagined.

It is where I found love. Where I built my family. Where I became a mother. Where I continued to heal and grow. Where I discovered my strength, my purpose and, eventually, a sense of belonging I had spent much of my life searching for.

And many years later, it became the place where I found the courage to change my life again.

Leaving the Corporate World Changed Everything

For years, I lived a very different life from the one you see today.

I worked in the corporate world. I built a career. I did what so many of us are taught to do. Work hard, achieve, keep going.

But something inside me wanted more.

Not more success.

More meaning.

I wanted my life to feel aligned with who I had become.

So I left.

And the last few years have stretched me, challenged me and changed me in ways I could never have predicted.

I studied.

I trained.

I healed.

I learnt about the nervous system, energy, emotions, subconscious beliefs and the ways our past can quietly shape our present.

I became a Reiki Master of Light and now practise four forms of Reiki. I trained in Emotional Freedom Technique, NLP and other healing and mindset modalities.

But my greatest education will probably always be my own life.

I know what it feels like to carry wounds nobody can see.

I know what it feels like to wonder why you react the way you do.

I know what it feels like to want peace inside your own mind and body.

And I also know what it feels like when things finally begin to shift.

Healing Changed Me

My healing journey has never been about pretending the past didn’t happen.

It happened.

There are parts of my story that will always be part of me.

Healing, for me, has been about changing my relationship with those experiences.

It has meant feeling emotions I once buried.

Crying when I needed to cry.

Forgiving myself.

Learning to listen to my body.

Releasing beliefs that were never truly mine.

Learning that I could feel safe.

Learning that I was allowed to receive.

Learning that my needs mattered.

And, perhaps most importantly, learning to love the woman I had become.

That journey eventually became the foundation of my work.

Turning Pain Into Purpose

Today, I have the privilege of holding space for people around the world.

Some come to me carrying anxiety or trauma.

Some are struggling with confidence, self-worth or limiting beliefs.

Some want to manifest a different life but feel as though something inside them keeps pulling them backwards.

Some are adoptees or foster care survivors carrying wounds around abandonment, identity and belonging.

And some cannot even explain exactly what is wrong.

They simply know they are ready for something to change.

My work brings together EFT Tapping, Ho’oponopono, Reiki, meditation, subconscious work, nervous system support and mindset practices.

I don’t believe healing should be about somebody telling you that you need fixing.

I believe it is about helping you reconnect with yourself.

And Then Ho’oponopono Tapping™ Was Born

One of the things I am most proud to have created is Ho’oponopono Tapping™.

It brings together EFT Tapping with the healing principles of Ho’oponopono.

I’m sorry.

Please forgive me.

Thank you.

I love you.

I wanted to create a practice that didn’t simply focus on releasing what hurts.

I wanted there to be forgiveness.

Self-forgiveness.

Gratitude.

Love.

A way of acknowledging what we have carried while gently beginning to change the beliefs and emotions underneath it.

It has now become a huge part of the work I share.

My Online Community Has Become Something I Never Expected

When I began sharing my work online, I couldn’t have known where it would lead.

Today, my YouTube channel, @MaheshaRice, has grown into a beautiful community of over 14,200 subscribers and allows me to reach people all around the world.

I share EFT Tapping, Ho’oponopono Tapping™, Reiki, meditations, affirmations and daily healing and uplifting content.

And I genuinely love it.

To think that someone could be sitting alone in their bedroom thousands of miles away, perhaps having one of the hardest days of their life, find one of my videos and tap with me, meditate with me, or simply feel a little less alone means so much to me.

Yes, seeing the community grow to over 14K subscribers is incredible, and I am deeply grateful for every single person who chooses to be there. But what matters to me most is the person behind each number.

The person who needed that video that day.

The person who chose to give themselves ten minutes to heal.

The person who came back and told me they felt calmer, lighter, stronger, or simply more hopeful.

That matters to me more than numbers ever could.

So if you haven’t subscribed yet, I would genuinely love to welcome you into our growing community.

Reiki Renewal Rising® Came From Something I Once Needed Myself

Then there is Reiki Renewal Rising®.

This one is incredibly close to my heart.

I created it because I thought about the support I wish I had during some of the hardest periods of my own life.

Not one appointment and then back into the world alone.

Something consistent.

A place to return to.

A community.

A space where someone remembers your name, knows what you are working through and genuinely wants to see you rise.

Inside Reiki Renewal Rising®, I hold live weekly Reiki sessions designed to support emotional release, relaxation and nervous system regulation.

Members also receive a personalised EFT Tapping script every three months. There is private WhatsApp community support and space to connect with other people walking their own healing paths.

I want it to feel like somewhere you can arrive exactly as you are.

You can have had a brilliant week.

You can have cried all morning.

Both versions of you are welcome.

And when we reach 111 members, 5% of membership income will begin going to a children’s mental health charity.

Because I want the healing we create together to ripple further than us.

Creating The 111 Manifestation Mala™

My work continues to evolve because I continue to evolve.

Most recently, another deeply personal creation has come to life, The 111 Manifestation Mala™ by Mahesha Rice.

I have used mala beads within my own spiritual practices for years, particularly to repeat the four Ho’oponopono phrases 111 times.

I wanted to create something people could physically hold while healing, praying, meditating, chanting mantras or setting intentions for the life they want to create.

Each mala contains 111 beads. I personally select the crystals, and Olga at Blue Dragonfly Creations handcrafts each piece.

Then it comes to me.

This is one of my favourite parts.

I sit with each mala. I hold it. I connect with it. And I personally Reiki-infuse it, setting the intention that it supports its future owner for their highest good.

Knowing that something I have held in my hands will eventually become part of another person’s healing or manifestation practice feels incredibly special. Read my blog: The Spiritual Tool That Changed My Daily Healing Practice

Becoming an Award-Winning Holistic Therapist

And then something happened that made me stop for a moment and look at how far I had come.

I was named Holistic Therapist of the Year 2025/26 for South England by Prestige Awards. Read the story on my award here (The Girl Who Once Felt Invisible Just Won Holistic Therapist of the Year) I also just found out that I have been nominated for the same title for 2026/27.

I am incredibly proud of that award.

But perhaps not for the obvious reason.

It represents the journey.

The woman who once had so much of her life decided for her eventually created a life entirely of her own.

The adoptee who spent years wondering where she belonged created spaces where other people could feel that they belonged.

The woman who had to learn how to heal herself now holds space for other people’s healing.

That is what the award means to me.

And it belongs, in part, to every client who has trusted me with their vulnerability and allowed me to hold space for their healing.

It belongs to the people who watch my videos, attend my sessions, read these words, send me messages and share my work.

And it belongs to my family too.

My husband has never doubted me for a second. He has supported me, encouraged me and remained my biggest fan through every version of this journey.

And my children are my strength. They inspire me every day to keep growing and becoming the best version of myself.

I am deeply grateful for all three of them.

I Am Still Becoming

I think this is important to say.

I haven’t reached some imaginary finish line.

I’m still learning.

Still studying.

Still healing.

Still expanding.

Still changing my mind about things.

Still discovering parts of myself.

And I hope I always will.

One of the greatest things I have learnt is to stop building my life around what other people might think of me.

I know who I am.

I know what matters to me.

I know the energy I want around me.

I have learnt to protect that energy and lovingly release relationships, situations and environments that no longer support the person I am becoming.

There is no anger in that.

Sometimes loving yourself means recognising when something no longer belongs in your next chapter.

So, Hello. I’m Mahesha.

If you’re new here, welcome.

And if you’ve been walking beside me for months or years, thank you.

This community is becoming something I once could only have imagined.

If you are healing, rebuilding, manifesting, learning to love yourself, trying to feel safe again, or simply becoming curious about who you might be underneath everything life has placed upon you, there is a place for you here.

Come and tap with me on YouTube.

Follow me on Instagram and Facebook and become part of the conversations we have there.

Read my blog and explore the healing practices I share.

And if something inside you is telling you that you are ready for deeper, consistent support, I would love to welcome you into Reiki Renewal Rising®.

You don’t have to become someone else.

Perhaps your next chapter is about coming home to the person who has been there all along.

I spent years trying to understand where I belonged.

Now I understand that part of my purpose is creating spaces where other people can find their way home to themselves too.

And I feel like I’m only just getting started.

With love and light,

Mahesha Rice
